Everyone wants to have a beautiful appearance and to be liked by people with this beautiful appearance. A good appearance is important as it positively affects the first impression and makes people more self-confident.
The most important parts of our appearance are our teeth and smile. Teeth that look clean and aesthetic make the person feel self-confident. This self-confidence affects both the social and personal life of the person. Appearance is not everything, but it is the place that will affect our lives. E-max veneer is one of the most preferred methods in dental and smiles aesthetic procedures. E-max veneer is a part of smile aesthetics. With this method, the teeth' structure, color, and appearance are enhanced by natural methods. It is generally used in the aesthetic treatment of anterior teeth.
Our dental health can deteriorate for various reasons. Deteriorating dental health also negatively affects the aesthetic appearance of the teeth. This situation can cause patients to feel physically and mentally bad. For this reason, dental aesthetic procedures in dentistry are an area of great interest.
E-max veneer is a new-generation aesthetic dental veneer treatment. It is especially applied to cover the bad appearance of the front teeth caused by wrapping over time and various traumas and to improve their aesthetic appearance. It is usually applied to the anterior incisors since the most basic purpose is an aesthetic concern. E-max veneer is preferred on front teeth in cases of visual impairment and lack of self-confidence.
E-max veneer allows patients to have natural-looking and healthy teeth. It is an procedure that offers strength and beauty together among Veneers made using special ceramics. The zirconium components in E-max are resistant to high-pressure levels. With the lithium disilicate contained in it, both transparency and light transmittance increase. In this way, a natural and pleasant appearance emerges.
What is E-max (Empress) Veneer?
E-max Veneer is a metal-free lithium disilicate-based glass-based ceramic Veneer obtained by pressing and fusing porcelain on glass ceramic, known as IPS Press, which has high strength and offers an aesthetic appearance close to a natural appearance. The lithium disilicate in the E-max Veneer is highly resistant to 400MPa pressure. This way, an ultra-thin, very good light transmittance, durable and aesthetic restoration is prepared. E-max Veneers are long-lasting and do not smell or change color. The light transmittance of E-max veneers is better than zirconium veneers. It has the translucency of natural teeth. Since E-max veneers have a delicate structure, they are not a very suitable option for back teeth. Some dentists prefer it to be applied only to the anterior teeth.
E-max can often be used to restore teeth in the front of the mouth. It is also a good choice for single or short bridges. The E-max veneer method is one of the aesthetic methods that emerged to eliminate crooked, crooked, yellowed teeth and have an aesthetic and beautiful smile.
Laminated teeth are used on the front surfaces of the teeth to change the color and form of the teeth and provide an aesthetic appearance. Previously, it was only produced from porcelain. Since these porcelain veneers are quite fragile and unstable, pressable glass-ceramics have been developed.
Although it is a metal-free Veneer, it has a very strong structure. It gives a natural and translucent look. Due to the zirconium in the Veneer content, its durability and light transmittance is at the highest level due to lithium disilicate. This gives the teeth a natural appearance.
Since the materials used are natural ceramics, they are compatible with the human body. Therefore, there is no harm in terms of health. Since they have a natural structure, your teeth will look natural and real. E-max veneer is also called full porcelain tooth because it consists entirely of ceramic.
Teeth with root canal treatment are more prone to breakage. E-max veneer also plays an important role in the repair of weak teeth treated with root canal treatment. On the other hand, it is possible to treat teeth broken due to trauma or extensive caries with E-max veneer. The risk of cracking and breakage in adverse and excessive forces applied to E-max teeth is at the same level as the risk of cracking and breaking of a healthy tooth. E-max Veneer does not require extra maintenance. Routine dental care is sufficient.
What are Crowns?
Crowns are materials used to protect teeth or to cover teeth for aesthetic purposes.
The veneer consists of the following:
- Made of stainless steel,
- Made of gold, platinum, and base metal,
- Made of metal fused with porcelain,

- It is not applied to teeth with implant treatment and metal support.
- It is unsuitable for caries, damage, and fractures in molars.
- E-max Veneer is not applied to teeth with implant treatment and metal support.
- After root canal treatment, this treatment is not applied to teeth that have metal pivo (small nail-like material placed in the root canal in smaller teeth) added.
What are the complications of E-max Veneer?
E-max veneer is a type of porcelain veneer used in dentistry and is applied especially for aesthetic purposes. Since no action is taken while applying the E-max Veneer, no damage occurs to the gingiva or tooth structure. However, like any dental procedure, E-max veneer may be associated with some complications. These are:
- In rare cases, the veneer may lose adhesion to the tooth and fall off.
- The veneer covers only the tooth's front surface, so other areas of the tooth may be more prone to decay.
- After the Veneer is applied, some patients may experience sensitivity when consuming hot or cold foods.
- The veneer can be applied without changing the tooth color. However, there may be a color incompatibility with other teeth after the procedure.
- Although E-max veneers are quite durable, they can break due to impacts or traumas, as with other porcelain veneers.
The above complications are generally rare, and the success rate of E-max veneers is quite high.
What should be considered before E-max Veneer?
There are a few important points to consider before E-max Veneer:
Gum health:
Before the E-max veneer, the gums and mouth should generally be healthy. Gum problems should be treated beforehand.
Tooth structure:
Before the E-max veneer, the structure and health of the teeth should be evaluated. If cavities, fractures, or damage on the teeth are to be veneered, they should be treated first.
Tooth color:
Before the E-max veneer, tooth color should be determined, and a suitable veneer color should be selected. Maintaining a natural appearance to be compatible with other teeth is important.
Shape and size of teeth:
Before E-max veneer, the shape and size of the teeth should be evaluated, and it should be decided whether it is suitable for veneer procedure.
Oral hygiene:
After the E-max veneer, it is very important to care for the teeth. Therefore, oral hygiene should be informed before the procedure, and the patient should be taught about precautions such as regular tooth brushing and flossing.
Choosing a dentist:
Choosing an experienced dentist for an E-max veneer is very important. Since veneer procedure is a serious process, working with an experienced dentist increases the procedure's chances of success.
How is E-max Veneer done?
It is a method that our physicians easily apply. Our patients' complaints and expectations are listened to. Then, the oral examination of our patients is performed by our dentists. As a result of this examination, it is checked whether there are rotten, broken, or cracked teeth in the teeth. Filling of decayed teeth is done. Necessary treatments are also performed for broken and cracked teeth.
After the examination, a certain layer is worn over the teeth. The removed tooth layer is between 0.5-1.5 mm. After the etching process is completed, the measurement process is started.
The measurement is taken digitally; in some cases, it can also be taken with the CAD / CAM method. The measurements taken are sent to the laboratory. Temporary veneers are attached to our patients so that they can continue their normal lives. E-max Veneers are prepared by the measurements taken in the laboratory. The construction of the Veneers will take 3-5 days on average. Our Veneers will be made without metal support. It is produced as zirconium or porcelain veneer according to our patient's request.
The final stage is passed with the completion and arrival of the Veneers. At this stage, the veneers are rehearsed on our patient's teeth. Biting, chewing, and speaking rehearsals are made for our patients. If there is any problem due to the proofing, the Veneers are sent to the laboratory for correction. After the problems are resolved, if our patient is ready and mouth comfort is appropriate, e-max veneers adhere to our patient's teeth.
First-time veneers may cause discomfort to our patients. This is temporary and normal. Over time, the mouth and teeth will get used to e-max veneers.
What materials have been developed for E-max Veneers?
Two different materials have been developed for E-max Veneer teeth;
IPS e-max CAD:
It is the production of the Veneer by the CAD / CAM system. It is produced in the clinic on the same day. It has a resistance of 500MPa.
This material is known for its high strength and aesthetic and natural appearance properties. This system is especially preferred for dental restorations that require aesthetics and durability. IPS e-max CAD allows dentists to present a natural and aesthetic appearance to their patients with its options with different colors and transparency (a degree between transparent and opaque).
IPS e-max ZirPress:
This material is known for its high durability and aesthetic and natural appearance properties. IPS e-max ZirPress is used to repair damages such as wear, cavities, or fractures on the teeth.
IPS e-max ZirPress is produced from zirconium oxide and glass ceramics. Therefore, it has the characteristics of high strength and durability. In addition, this material offers dentists more shaping and customization options than materials produced from digitally designed and machined porcelain blocks.
IPS e-max ZirPress is a ceramic Veneer material used for dental restorations. The dentist selects it according to the type and degree of damage to the teeth. It is especially used in the anterior part of the teeth and offers a look close to natural tooth color and clarity.
A ZirCad version of the product is also prepared for processing on CAD-CAM devices.
What should be considered after Empress Veneer?
- Physician appointments should be addressed.
- The mouth area should be protected from trauma.
- Care recommendations recommended by our physicians should be followed.
- Patients with teeth-grinding habits should use night plates.
- To prolong the life of E-max veneers, the recommendations of the dentist should be taken into account.
- Sticky and hard foods should not be consumed; they may cause the Veneers to come off.
- Sensitivity to hot and cold may occur. Attention should be paid to consuming hot and cold food and beverage.
- Soft toothbrushes should be used. E-max veneers are sensitive materials; hard toothbrushes can cause scratches on the veneers.
